Open the Buffer task by clicking its name in the
menu area. The task is called "Buffer" and is located next to the "Print" task in the menu.
NOTE: The Buffer task will be useless until there are feature results in the Results pane. You can get results by performing an identify, find, or query
before activating the Buffer task.
Buffer Panel Options
Opening the Buffer task window will display the options available.
In Selected features to buffer, choose the selection set you wish to use as your source layer.
In Buffer selected features only, check the box if you want to only buffer around certain features in the results set. Make sure those features have checks next to them.
In Distance, specify the size of the buffer that should be drawn. This distance will be amount that the buffer extends outward on
all sides of the selected feature(s).
In Select from, choose the target layer of the buffer. Features of this layer that intersect the buffer being created will be selected
and added to the Results pane.
Press Buffer when ready.
Working with Buffer Results
Results of a buffer selection are highlighted and added to the Results panel.
The red border around the original selected features denotes the buffer area.
Hovering your mouse over a individual buffer result in the results pane will highlight it on the map.
